SIKOWO detects the situation of the persons in a room with the aid of
an automatic, multi-camera image processing system. All factors that are
decisive for living comfort such as the position of the doors,
windows, blinds and lighting are hereby taken into account.
How it works
The objects in the living area are detected using a newly developed algorithm.
The algorithm extracts the contours of the objects from the
video sequences (with subpixel accuracy).
After monitoring a short period a differentiation is made between immobile, rigid,
mobile rigid and flexible objects. Using typical
personal features, the parts of the body of the person present are
identified from the flexible objects. The
localised persons are then monitored for their activity and
classified into categories such as walking/standing, seated, lying and exercising.
This knowledge then allows the exact adjustment of the
control parameters to the individual requirements of the user and
